The Dry Assembly Method for Boatbuilding

This is the most important method used by professional boatbuilders. It eliminates the chance of a big mistake. The amount of time pressure on the builders is reduced. And in the end it saves a lot of epoxy resin because work is more organised.

At each stage the hull is assembled TEMPORARILY assembled using the drywall/plasterboard screws (black screws).

Most of the screws we use are 3/4″ or 20mm Normally we need about 200. They work well with a cordless drill with a screwdriver bit but can be put in with a screwdriver.

But it is useful to have a few longer ones 2″/50mm long – maybe 20 of them.
